"A 10-second long-exposure photograph capturing a fire poi performer at the peak of their performance against a complete black background. The performer themselves is a sharp central figure — photographed mid-spin, one arm extended — their face caught in the warm orange glow of the flames, expression focused and fierce. Radiating outward from both hands, the poi chains have traced perfect symmetrical circles of fire in the long exposure: two vast rings of continuous flame, their edges glowing brightest orange-white at the nearest points and fading to deep amber at the far edges of the arcs. Where the chains were swung in figure-eights, the trails cross over themselves in luminous knots. Sparks and embers — frozen as individual points of light — are scattered throughout the arcs. Shot in a dark outdoor space, the only light source the fire itself, warm orange tones dominating against absolute black."
